Eliezer
Eliezer is the narrator of the novel and is a direct reflection of Elie Wiesel himself. Eliezer's story acts as a personal account of the author's own experiences. He is the only boy in his family and must grow up rather quickly as he thrown into Holocaust. He shares with us his deepest thoughts and fears and we are able to see the horror of this world through his eyes.
Eliezer's father, Shlomo
Eliezer's father, who is the only other character that is prominent throughout the entire novel, is a very respective member of the Jewish community in their hometown of Sighet. From the very beginning of the novel, he is showcased as one of the leaders of the group and has acts as an inspirational voice for the community. His relationship with Eliezer really carries him through his experience at the various concentration camps.
