Art's father and survivor of The Holocaust. He tells Vladek the story of his survival. He was greatly affected by The Holocaust and has been emotionally disturbed ever since.
Anja Spiegelman -
Vladek's original wife who he met in Poland. She goes into depression after her first birth, but then recovers. She ends up back in depression and ends up killing herself a short while after the birth of Art.
Mala Spiegelman -
Vladek remarried after Anja's death to her. She is also a survivor of The Holocaust. Her relationship with Vladek is extremely strained and she is never happy. She doesn't understand Vladek, but helps Art compile the story.
